Meet Our Team

Dr. Michael Fugaro has provided personalized equine veterinary care to this area since 2003 and opened Mountain Pointe Equine Veterinary Services in February of 2010. Our full-service equine ambulatory practice is committed to providing exceptional veterinary care for patients and clients. Dr. Fugaro, Dr. Martin, and Mountain Pointe Equine’s dedicated staff have experience and expertise in a wide variety of equine disciplines.


 
 
 

Veterinarian

Dr. Michael Fugaro, VMD, Dipl. ACVS

Dr. Fugaro is the owner and founder of Mountain Pointe Equine Veterinary Services. Previously, Dr. Fugaro was the resident veterinarian and a tenured full-professor at Centenary University. He has also taught as a visiting instructor at Rutgers University in the Animal Science Department. Dr. Fugaro has held veterinary positions with the NJ Department of Agriculture’s Division of Animal Health and the NJ Racing Commission. He has also been the President of the NJ Association of Equine Practitioners, an advisory board member for the Rutgers University Board for Equine Advancement (RUBEA), and an admissions committee member for University of Pennsylvania's School of Veterinary Medicine.

Dr. Fugaro completed his B.S. in Animal Science at the University of Delaware. From there he went on to the University of Pennsylvania’s School of Veterinary Medicine where he graduated in 1997. He then completed a large animal internship at the University of Guelph, in Ontario, Canada and a large animal surgical residency at Purdue University. 

Dr. Fugaro maintains memberships and is active with the American College of Veterinary Surgeons, American Veterinary Medical Association, American Association of Equine Practitioners, New Jersey Veterinary Medical Association, Pennsylvania Veterinary Medical Association, and New Jersey Association of Equine Practitioners (President, CE Liaison).

When not performing surgeries, Dr. Fugaro enjoys golfing and going to the gym. He resides in Morris County with his wife, Donna, and dog, Curtis.

Dr. Jessica Martin, DVM

Dr. Martin, a South Jersey native, grew up riding and competing horses from a young age and always felt at home in a barn setting. She attended Rutgers University School of Environmental & Biological Sciences, where she graduated with a B.S. in Animal Science (Pre-Vet) in 2013. During her time at Rutgers, she was taught by Dr. Fugaro in a course entitled “Advanced Equine Health and Management.” He served as a mentor for her throughout school as she pursued her veterinary degree.

Dr. Martin attended Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine, graduating Magna Cum Laude in 2017 with her DVM. Following graduation, she completed an internship at Mid-Atlantic Equine Medical Center in Ringoes, New Jersey. Dr. Martin joined Mountain Pointe Equine as its first associate veterinarian in July of 2018. She has a particular interest in lameness, endoscopy, and neonatal care.

In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with family, practicing yoga, or hiking with her dog, Toby. She recently has returned to competitive riding in National Reined Cow Horse (NRCHA) events.

 

 
 

ASSOCIATE VETERINARIAN

Charlotte Weisberg, VMD

Dr. Charlotte Weisberg was born and raised in New Hampshire in a large family with a menagerie of animals. She spent many years competing in eventing throughout New England and knew from a young age that she wanted to pursue a career in veterinary medicine.

Dr. Weisberg graduated from Lehigh University in 2017 with a B.S. in Biology and Environmental Studies. Shortly after, she attended the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine, graduating in 2022 with a major in Large Animal medicine. Following veterinary school, Dr. Weisberg completed a rotating internship at Rhinebeck Equine in Rhinebeck, New York. During her internship, she developed an interest in dentistry, surgery, and emergency and critical care, although she enjoys all aspects of equine medicine.

In her spare time, Dr. Weisberg enjoys taking her retired event horse, William, out for trail rides, adding to her plant collection, and cooking up new New York Times recipes. Dr. Weisberg is excited to be joining the team at Mountain Pointe and looking forward to exploring all that North Jersey has to offer.

 

 

OFFICE MANAGER

Vicki Gallets

Vicki is joining the Mountain Pointe Equine team as our Office Manager. She grew up in Long Valley, NJ, and has been around horses since she was an infant. Vicki enjoyed riding in Pony Club and competing as a junior and adult in the Hunters and Equitation. Vicki comes to us as a Rutgers Business School grad and with an established career in the corporate fashion world. She now spends most of her time with her two children and their dog, and still enjoys the serenity that being around horses brings her.

Olivia Erikson

Olivia is joining the Mountain Pointe Equine team as a veterinary assistant. She grew up in Bernardsville, NJ, where she began taking riding lessons and developing her passion for horses at a young age. Olivia graduated from Centenary University in 2022 with a B.S. in Equine Studies, concentrating in Equine Science, and a Biology minor. She was also a member of the IHSA team during her time at Centenary, spending a lot of her time riding and showing with them. In her free time, Olivia enjoys riding, traveling, and spending time with her family and friends.

 

 
 

VETERINARY ASSISTANT

Olivia Marchello

Olivia grew up in White Township, NJ, and fell in love with horses during her early teenage years after a family trip to Chincoteague, Virginia. She started taking riding lessons shortly after and attended Centenary University where she graduated in 2023 with a B.S. in Equine Studies. In her free time, Olivia enjoys gardening, expanding her vinyl collection, and spending time with her horses Mac, Fable, Nuna, and Becker.


 
 

Client relations manager

Carey Masson

Carey is our Client Relations Manager. She was born and raised in Essex county, New Jersey, and got into horses in her early teenage years after a friend brought her to "ranch camp". Carey received her Bachelor of Science in Equine Studies, with a concentration in Equine Science from Centenary College. During her senior year, Carey worked with Dr. Fugaro as a veterinary assistant through Centenary’s work-study program. After graduation, she worked as Program Director for a small equine therapy program treating children with a variety of disabilities. In her free time, she enjoys riding, reading, and spending time with her family and friends.

 

 

Client Relations Associate

Sydney Waltenberg-O’Brien

Sydney is joining MPEVS as a veterinary assistant. Sydney Waltenberg-O'Brien grew up on a small farm in Orange County, NY, where she developed a love for horses at a young age. She started riding at 3 years old, and spent her junior career showing in the Pony Hunters as well as the equitation. Sydney attended Centenary University, where she graduated in 2022 with a B. S. in Equine Studies, with a concentration in Equine Science. During her time at Centenary, Sydney was a very active member of their IHSA and Hunter Jumper teams and spent her college career riding and showing with them. In her free time, Sydney enjoys hiking with her dog as well as riding her horses, Molly and Squash.
